A Gift from Captain Buscio
Captain Dominick Buscio of the Jersey City Fire Department was 39 years old, and by every appearance healthy, when a sudden heart attack took his life. His physical 19 months earlier had been normal except for moderately elevated cholesterol. His wife, Donna Buscio, created this program in his memory so that no other first responder's family would learn the hard way that “feeling fine” is not a diagnosis.
The program provides a strictly confidential, comprehensive cardiovascular and pulmonary evaluation, every year, for New Jersey's first responders and their families. Read a message from Donna Buscio. For details, call any of our offices; two minutes on the phone answers everything.

What The Exam Includes
No two exams are identical, because no two patients are. Your evaluation draws on the full range of our diagnostics, from bloodwork and EKG to AI-analyzed echocardiography, stress testing, complete pulmonary function testing, and advanced imaging, with every test performed as clinically indicated for you. Your physician builds the exam around your history, your exposures, and your findings, not around a checklist.
What To Expect
- Call the office nearest you. Our staff will walk you through everything, including your benefits, and book your exam.
- Before your visit. Fast overnight in case bloodwork is necessary: nothing to eat or drink after midnight, except water. In fact, drink plenty of it; arriving well hydrated makes bloodwork and imaging easier. Bring a list of current medications and your ID. Dress comfortably; you may be walking on a treadmill.
- Your visit. Plan for 3 to 4 hours. All testing is completed under one roof at every location.
- Your results. A physician reviews every study. Most results and follow-up appointments are completed within two weeks, with a clear plan if anything needs attention. Your results are fully confidential and are shared only with your authorization.
